On May 4th we hosted a party for four Kenyan students graduating from Norfolk State University. Over 60 friends from East and West Africa attended the party. Testimonies about overcoming all obstacles to get to NSU from Africa and graduate were heartwarming. And the food… well, it was amazing! Since then people have been talking and praying about the possibility of launching an International African Service at Ingleside Church.
On June 9th at 4:00pm we will host the first International African Service. Bishop Steve Nijhia from Redeemer Faith Ministry in Kitale, Kenya, will be the speaker. June 9th is Pentecost Sunday! What a great day to start a new service. The service is open to anyone.
June & July – This issue of Inglescribe covers events in June & July. We are expecting improvement to the ditch in front the church to begin early in June. Two great nights of Power Surge are planned for this summer. See page 3 and the calendar on page 11.
A New Roof for Ingleside Church – Shortly after I became your pastor, we replaced the original roof of the church. That was over 30 years ago! Our contractor agreed to make temporary repairs to our roof until we can raise the $27,000 needed to replace the entire roof. We believe that God wants us to pay for this roof in cash without a loan. We have already received $16,335 for the roof, plus another $2,000 has been pledged. All of this has come in before we publicly announced our need. That means we need less than $9,000 to complete this project. We invite our members and friends to consider making gift toward our new roof. The new roof with beautiful architectural shingles will protect our building for another 30 years. We want to have this project completed this summer in time for the start of our next school year.
