ONE MORE SURPRISE!

One More Surprise!

By Pastor Peter McLewin

We are delighted to share that the staff changes last announced have been a great blessing to our ministry.  Taren and Robert are quickly learning the reasons behind our ways of operation, while simultaneously offering plenty of helpful new ideas. During their transition, Mrs. Susan Kidd has been generous to guide our new staff members in a smooth alteration into their new positions.

Pastor Philip has become very dedicated to creating relationships with people in our community – including students at NSU and ODU.  The children in Ingleside love the new activities and lessons Pastor Emili brings each week.  Attendance is rising in all ministries of the church as a result of their hard work and dedication.

So what is the surprise?  Our worship leader for a recent Power Surge had to cancel at the last minute. A friend suggested we ask Samuel Corey to fill-in and lead that evening, he did a fantastic job!  Afterwards we asked if he might be available to lead worship at Ingleside more permanently.  He said, “Yes!”  So our newest surprise is that on October 6th, he became our official worship leader!  Samuel has worked hard to blend our current worship team with some new musicians (many that were once students at Home School Plus) – he is creating a beautiful environment for worship at Ingleside.  We are grateful to Margaret McLewin for leading worship for so many years, and she continues to help Samuel develop his God given musical talent through this transition.

We are grateful that God is blowing a fresh wind through our congregation. Recently Dr. Kim Jessie met with the younger ones in a reverse-mention session to hear the ideas they might have to strength our ministry.  We look forward to more of these kinds of meeting as we position our church to reach the next generation.

Thank you to everyone who gave so generously toward the replacement of our roof.  The new roof is installed and paid for in cash $28,000!  The architectural shingles look great and as far as we can tell all of the leaks have been taken care of!  I am grateful to the many who have sacrificially given and prayed for this day to come.  God is indeed bringing us into a generational shift.  Join me in asking God help us steward this opportunity well.  We invite you to come as see for yourself what the Lord is doing.

This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

Psalm 118:23
